Ayodhya/Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has purchased a premium land parcel in Lord Rama’s birthplace Ayodhya worth approximately ₹3.31 crore, just months before he portrays the deity in the highly anticipated epic film Ramayana. The actor, who will play Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s big-budget spectacle, described the investment as answering “a calling” from the sacred temple town.
The Sarayu: A 75-Acre Legacy on Sarayu River Banks
The land transaction, carried out at The Sarayu project developed by House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), spans 2,134 square feet within a 75-acre premium plotted development along the Sarayu river. The project features a clubhouse, lifestyle amenities, and a luxury hotel managed by The Leela.
Speaking about the investment, Kapoor said: “I believe Ayodhya has chosen me, and I have just answered this calling. Ayodhya is deeply rooted in our history and is a critical part of our cultural fabric. This land at The Sarayu became my gateway to ensuring this becomes a part of my legacy for my family.”
Following Amitabh Bachchan’s Path
Ranbir Kapoor has now become the second major Bollywood actor to invest in Ayodhya real estate, following the footsteps of legend Amitabh Bachchan, who previously purchased property in the temple town. This move has sparked conversations about Bollywood’s growing interest in Ayodhya ahead of the Ram temple’s consecration and cultural renaissance.
Ramayana Release: Diwali 2026
The acquisition comes as Kapoor prepares for the release of Ramayana: Part 1, scheduled for Diwali 2026. The first look of the actor as Lord Ram was unveiled last month, sending fans into a frenzy across social media platforms.timesofindia.
Beyond Ramayana, Kapoor also has SLB’s Love & War in the pipeline, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, which will further cement his status as one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars.
Celebrity Real Estate Boom in Ayodhya
The actor’s investment adds to a growing wave of celebrity interest in Ayodhya’s real estate market, driven by the temple town’s transformation into a major spiritual and tourism hub. As the city undergoes rapid development, property values have surged, attracting high-profile buyers from across India.
For Ranbir Kapoor, the land purchase represents more than just an investment—it’s a personal connection to the role he’s about to embody on screen and a legacy he wishes to pass on to future generations. As he himself put it: “Ayodhya has chosen me.”
