Hyderabad: Meerpet Police have detained three persons, including the prime suspect, in the murder of rowdy-sheeter Nandanavanam Suri alias Dasari Surender. Investigators are probing an alleged Instagram Live session in which the suspect reportedly claimed responsibility. Police believe the killing stemmed from an old personal rivalry.

What Happened

On Monday night, July 20, 2026, Suri was called to a spot near TKR Engineering College in Meerpet. When he arrived, the prime suspect Afroz alias Salman and his accomplices threw chilli powder in his eyes. They then hacked him to death with sharp weapons. Police say the attack was pre-planned and executed within minutes.

Who Was Detained

  • Afroz alias Salman, the brother of Suri’s deceased first wife Saba Fatima, and the prime accused
  • Two accomplices, who helped plan and carry out the attack

All three are currently being questioned. Investigators are working to establish the full sequence of events and to identify any additional persons involved.

Why This Matters

Suri was a history-sheeter with multiple cases against him, including the alleged murders of his first wife Saba Fatima and his brother-in-law Mohammed Salman in 2024. Police suspect Afroz carried out the attack as revenge for Salman’s killing.

The case has drawn attention because of the Instagram Live claim and the chain of past murders linked to Suri.

Meerpet Police have registered a case and continue to investigate all angles. Further details are expected as the probe progresses and as the detained suspects face questioning.
