Hyderabad: Praveen Kumar addressed a press conference and said the Congress government has selectively withdrawn security from Opposition figures. He accused the ruling party of using the Security Review Committee (SRC) to target political rivals while protecting its own leaders.

The former IPS officer demanded that the SRC report be released to the public. He said transparency is essential to prove that the exercise was not politically motivated.

Praveen Kumar also raised concerns over media leaks related to the ongoing phone tapping case. He questioned why certain details are being selectively shared with the press while the full picture remains hidden.

He said he will not remain silent if the government continues with what he called “selective targeting.” Praveen Kumar warned that he will move the court if necessary to challenge the decisions.

The controversy comes after the Telangana government trimmed security for several high-profile individuals, citing reduced threat perceptions. Opposition leaders have rejected the move and called it an attempt to weaken their protection.
