Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged people across the state to join grand celebrations marking Amaravati’s confirmation as the permanent capital, following the Lok Sabha’s passage of the crucial bill on Wednesday.

Naidu made the appeal during a high-energy public meeting at the Amaravati Secretariat site, where thousands of farmers and supporters gathered. “This is not just a victory for TDP—it’s Andhra Pradesh’s future taking shape. Let every district light up in joy,” he declared, calling for district-level events on April 5.

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026, passed with 312 votes, ends 12 years of uncertainty since bifurcation. Amaravati, built on 33,000 acres of farmer-donated land via pooling, now gets ₹15,000 crore central aid for Phase-I. Naidu revived the project after scrapping YSRCP’s three-capital plan.

“Farmers gave land trusting us. Courts backed us. Now Centre delivers justice,” Naidu said, crediting PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He promised world-class infrastructure: high court, assembly, metro, and green spaces by 2029.

YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy slammed it as “NDA revenge.” “Three capitals balanced development. This central fiat ignores Rayalaseema and North Andhra,” he countered. TDP dismissed it, noting Supreme Court tilt toward single capital.

Land donors rejoiced. “My family’s 5 acres helped build this dream. Celebrations will honour our sacrifice,” said Thulluru farmer Lakshmi Devi.

Naidu outlined plans: Amaravati Foundation Day on April 22 with cultural fests, riverfront shows, and investor meets. Districts to host solidarity events.

Urban expert Dr. Rajesh Kumar called it “game-changer.” “Clarity attracts ₹1 lakh crore investments, creates 20 lakh jobs.”

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy congratulated Andhra. “Neighbour’s progress benefits region.”

Naidu’s victory lap unites Amaravati backers while reigniting capital wars, setting stage for Andhra’s urban renaissance.
