A family vacation story has taken a mysterious turn in Hyderabad, after a couple who allegedly told their daughter they were flying to Switzerland has not been heard from since — and police are now examining whether their disappearance is linked to a chit fund business running into trouble.
The Disappearance
The couple, identified as 51-year-old businessman P Chandrashekar and his wife P Swapna, residents of Cherlapally, were reported missing by their eldest daughter on July 9. According to the complaint, the couple had allegedly left home on June 22, telling their daughter over a phone call that they were headed to Switzerland for a vacation.
By the time she returned home that day, her parents were already gone.
For a while, the couple reportedly stayed in touch with their two daughters through calls and messages. Then, without warning, all communication stopped. Worried and unable to reach their parents, the daughters approached the Cherlapally Police Station and filed a missing persons complaint.
Too Few Details, Too Many Questions
What has made the case harder to crack is how little the family reportedly knows about the trip itself. The daughters have said their parents shared barely any details about their travel plans — not even where in Switzerland they intended to stay.
Adding another layer of intrigue, police have said there is currently no evidence confirming the couple actually left India at all, raising questions about whether the “Switzerland vacation” was the real story — or a cover for something else entirely.
The Chit Fund Angle
Investigators are now looking into allegations that Chandrashekar was running a chit fund scheme reportedly worth Rs 50 crore, with claims that he had promised investors high returns before allegedly running into difficulties repaying them.
It’s important to note that, as of now, police say no formal complaints of financial fraud have been filed against the couple. However, given the scale of the alleged scheme, Chandrashekar’s business dealings are reportedly being examined as part of the investigation into his whereabouts.
What Happens Next
With the couple’s location unknown and financial allegations swirling, the case has quickly grown from a family’s missing-persons report into a matter with far wider implications — particularly for anyone who may have invested money with Chandrashekar.
Police have not ruled out any possibilities and say the investigation, including verification of the couple’s alleged international travel, is ongoing. Further updates are expected as authorities piece together what really happened after that phone call on June 22.
