The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) isn’t stopping after one big win. Founder Abhijeet Dipke says the group will expand its operations following the fallout from student protests at Jantar Mantar, protests that led to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.

Speaking to PTI on Monday, August 3, Dipke said the group’s responsibilities have grown along with public expectations. He called it a moment where <cite index=”2-1″>CJP’s responsibility has gotten bigger after the result of the protest</cite>, adding that people’s hopes have risen too.
He confirmed a meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, at his residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Roughly 10 to 15 people will attend, and the agenda is squarely about what comes next. Dipke, a Boston University graduate, said the group will use the meeting to map its future roadmap. Afterward, he said, CJP plans to brief its wider volunteer network on how to carry the movement forward.
The backdrop: NEET protests and a minister’s exit
CJP’s profile rose sharply after the Jantar Mantar protests over NEET paper leaks and exam irregularities, a movement that ultimately pushed Dharmendra Pradhan to step down. That outcome is clearly shaping the group’s next move. Dipke framed the expansion as a direct response to the scale of what the protests achieved.
A parallel demand: withdraw the FIRs
Dipke also used the interview to press a separate point. He wants the Maharashtra government to withdraw FIRs filed against students who took part in the protests, and to stop what he described as harassment of those students going forward. He tied this to a broader complaint about the state of education in India, arguing that it has become too expensive and too inaccessible for ordinary people.

Wednesday’s meeting will be the first real test of what “expansion” means in practice for CJP, whether that’s new leadership, a formal structure, or a wider push beyond the NEET issue.
