Hyderabad-The Telangana government has urged citizens not to engage in panic buying, assuring ample supplies of LPG, petrol, and diesel across the state. Long queues at fuel stations and gas distributors sparked fears of shortages, but officials say the supply chain remains fully operational.
The Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department issued a statement on Tuesday clarifying that stocks are sufficient to meet daily needs in all districts. Reports of unusual rushes began Tuesday afternoon in Hyderabad and other areas, triggered by unverified rumors on social media. The department emphasized that oil refineries are delivering fuel to local depots without interruption.
Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy addressed the situation directly. “There is absolutely no shortage of petrol, diesel, or domestic LPG. Our reserves can last the next three months, with supply exceeding demand,” Reddy stated. He warned against hoarding and black-marketing, promising strict action against violators.
Experts attribute the panic to misinformation, a common issue during uncertain times. “Rumors spread fast online, leading to unnecessary queues. People should rely on official updates,” said Dr. Priya Sharma, a supply chain analyst at Osmania University. Local residents echoed this sentiment. “I waited over an hour at a petrol pump today, but now I see there’s plenty,” shared Hyderabad auto driver Rajesh Kumar.
The government’s proactive response includes monitoring fuel outlets and coordinating with oil companies. Daily allocations from refineries continue as usual, ensuring no disruptions for households or transport. Authorities have also advised LPG users to book cylinders through regular channels to avoid misuse of domestic supplies for commercial purposes.
This incident highlights the impact of rumors on essential services in Telangana. With stocks stable and vigilance in place, the state aims to restore calm quickly. Citizens are encouraged to check official sources for updates on LPG, petrol, and diesel availability, preventing future panic.
