Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has reportedly waived his fee entirely for an upcoming major film, while co-star Nayanthara commands a massive paycheck running into crores, highlighting shifting industry dynamics.

Sources close to the production reveal Salman, one of Hindi cinema’s highest-paid actors, chose to work for free to support the project’s ambitious vision and ensure it reaches audiences nationwide. Nayanthara, riding high after her pan-India successes, negotiated a hefty sum reflecting her current market value and South cinema clout.

The yet-untitled film brings together the Kick star and the Jawan heroine for the first time, generating massive buzz. Directed by a top South filmmaker making Hindi debut, it blends high-octane action with emotional depth. Shooting began last month in Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Industry insiders say Salman’s no-fee move reduces budget pressure, allowing bigger VFX and star cameos. “Bhai’s gesture shows confidence in the script and team. He’s backing new talent,” said a production executive. Nayanthara’s payday—reportedly ₹12-15 crore—marks her biggest Hindi assignment yet.

Producer Ramesh Taurani confirmed the collaboration but stayed mum on finances. “Salman sir and Nayanthara bring unmatched energy. This film will redefine screen pairings,” he told reporters at the muhurat.

Nayanthara spoke about the opportunity. “Working with Salman is a dream. His generosity inspires everyone. I’m giving my best,” she said at a recent event. Fans flooded social media with excitement. “Zero pay Salman + powerhouse Nayanthara = blockbuster loading!” tweeted Hyderabad movie buff Arjun Reddy.

Trade analyst Komal Nahta called it strategic. “Salman passes profits to producers. Nayanthara’s fee signals women’s rising bargaining power. Smart business for pan-India appeal.”

The film eyes 2027 release across Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions. Shooting shifts to Ooty next month for song sequences.

Salman-Nayanthara’s fee contrast spotlights Bollywood’s evolving economics—superstar sacrifices meet rising female star power, promising a commercial juggernaut.
