A popular local YouTuber was found fatally stabbed at his home on Friday night, police said, as investigators questioned his in‑laws who are suspected to have been involved in the attack. The shocking killing has rattled the neighbourhood and stirred concern among the city’s growing community of independent content creators.

The victim, identified as 28‑year‑old Karthik Reddy (name changed for privacy until family notification), ran a lifestyle and tech channel with a steady regional following. According to police, neighbours alerted authorities after hearing raised voices and a disturbance at the bungalow in the Banjara Hills area around 10:30 pm. Officers arrived to find Karthik with multiple stab wounds; he was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

Initial inquiries by the Hyderabad City Police revealed that Karthik had been at home with several relatives, including his wife’s family. “We have detained two members of the in‑laws for questioning. They are persons of interest in the case,” said a senior police officer. Forensics teams processed the scene overnight and collected CCTV footage from inside and around the complex, the officer added.

Neighbours described Karthik as a mild‑mannered creator who often filmed short segments from his balcony. “He used to go out for shoots during the day and was friendly. We never expected something like this,” said a resident who asked not to be named. Local shopkeepers said the area was usually quiet after 10 pm, making the late disturbance stand out.

Police have not yet disclosed a clear motive. Sources say investigators are probing a personal dispute, although cyber activity and recent threats on social media are also being reviewed as part of the probe. “We are examining mobile phone records, social media messages, and the CCTV clips to build a timeline,” the officer said.

The murder has triggered an outpouring of shock on social platforms, with fellow creators condemning the violence and calling for swift action. A colleague posted that Karthik had been preparing a new series and was due to collaborate with other local creators next week. “We’re devastated and request a thorough investigation,” the post read.

Legal experts say cases involving social media personalities can attract intense public scrutiny and misinformation. “Authorities must balance transparency with the need to protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of the family,” an analyst noted.

Hyderabad Police urged anyone with information to come forward and called on the public not to circulate unverified videos or posts that could hamper investigations. The force has formed a special team to fast‑track evidence collection and expects to file charges as the probe progresses.

As the city waits for clarity, the killing raises questions about the safety of creators who increasingly blur public and private life for their audiences. For now, the focus remains on finding the truth and delivering justice.
