Hyderabad: City police have released a detailed traffic advisory ahead of tomorrow’s grand Hanuman Jayanthi procession led by Bajrang Dal and VHP, urging commuters to avoid Old City routes as lakhs prepare to participate.

The procession kicks off at 9 AM from Hanuman Vyayamshala in Sultan Bazaar, winding 7 km through Mangalhat, Chatta Bazaar, Jambagh, and Puranapul before ending at Sitarampagh Temple. Expect heavy diversions on key roads from 7 AM to 2 PM. No vehicles allowed on the main route; alternate paths include Paradise Circle to Secretariat and PV Narasimha Rao Expressway.

Police Commissioner K. Suresh Reddy addressed the media today. “With two lakh devotees expected, we’re deploying 5,000 personnel including CRPF and mounted units. Mosques along the route are already covered—peace is our priority after last week’s events,” he assured.

Traffic will be redirected at key junctions:

  • Edi Bazaar to Mangalhat—no entry
  • Jambagh to Chatta Bazaar—diverted via Nampally
  • Puranapul to Petlaburj—closed completely

Alternate routes stay open: Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Necklace Road, and Outer Ring Road. Heavy vehicles banned from 6 AM. Parking limited at Hanuman Temple and nearby grounds.

Organisers promised discipline. VHP coordinator Ramchander Rao said, “Purely devotional—no politics, no weapons. Saffron flags and Hanuman Chalisa only.” Bajrang Dal trained activists to prevent repeats of Ram Navami controversies.

Commuters plan ahead. “I’ll leave home early and use metro. Old City jams are expected,” said IT professional Priya Sharma from Ameerpet. Shopkeepers along the route shut early. “Better safe than stuck for hours,” noted Sultan Bazaar trader Imran Khan.

This follows heavy security for last week’s Ram Navami yatra led by MLA T. Raja Singh. Drones, CCTV, and quick-response teams monitor tomorrow’s event. Courts mandated route compliance.

Apps like Google Maps will show live updates. Hyderabad Traffic Police helpline: 9010203122.

The advisory underscores Hyderabad’s challenge balancing mega religious events with daily life, testing the city’s famed Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb once again.
